The original www.localbookshops.co.uk site was designed to list those independent booksellers with fully interactive websites provided by The Book Partnership, enabling even the smallest independent bookseller to offer a full e-commere solution to their customers.

The success of this 'portal' site, and the increasing pressure from supermarkets, large chain stores, and the growth of Internet-based bookselling operations, prompted The Book Partnership to offer a similar service to ALL independent bookshops who
1/ maintain retail premises in the UK;
2/ were willing to provide a new book ordering service from their shops via the internet.

Any bookseller who wishes their shop to be listed with this service who meet the above criteria, may apply for a listing by downloading an order form from the following link localbookshopsorderform.pdf, and sending it to The Book Partnership

As the domain localbookshops.co.uk was already well known within the book trade, and registered with all the major search engines, the decision was made to host the new service using the same URL. The original directory site, listing only those booksellers using The Book Partnership services, has been transferred to localbookshopsonline.co.uk.
